

| Tupelo, Mississippi 306 Old Satillo Road, East Tupelo, Mississippi The house where Elvis & his stillborn twin brother Jesse Garon were born on January 8, 1935. The two-room wood-frame house was built by Vernon Presley, Elvis' father with $180 worth of lumber. The Presley's moved out in 1940. The house was designated a state historical site by the Mississippi State Department of Archives on January 8, 1978. Elvis would visit often, bringing Priscilla and friends to see where it began and to marvel at how far he had come in life...he also dedicated and paid for a center for there. It is now a museum and a chapel stands on the grounds with memorbilia from the late and talented Janelle McComb. Elvis' beautiful and talented daughter has also visited her father's birthplace. Reese Street, Tupelo, Mississippi House of Vester and Clettes Presley where Vernon, Gladys and Elvis stayed briefly in the early 1940's. Kelly Street, Tupelo Mississippi Home of the Presley's in 1942 Berry Street, Tupelo Mississippi The Presley's moved to this residence in August of 1945. A $2,000 house that Vernon Presley purchased with $200 down and $30 monthly payments to Orville Bean. Vernon was forced to sell this house in 1946 because he could not keep up with the payments. 510 Maple Street, South Tupelo, Mississippi The home of Gladys's cousin Frank Richards and his wife, Leona, where the Presley's stayed briefly. 1010 North Green Street, Tupelo, Mississippi The last Presley residence in Tupelo. The house was a four-bedroom in the Shakerag section of Tupelo. Memphis, Tennessee 572 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee This was the first Memphis home of Elvis and his parent's. It was a crowded boarding house that the Presley's shared with fifteen other families. The Presley family lived in a single room on the ground floor. 185 Winchester Street, Memphis, Tennessee Lauderdale Courts is a low income housing project. The Presley family lived there from September, 1949 to January, 1953, when they were evicted because they were making too much money to qualify for the housing. Their total family income at this time was $40 a week. 398 Cypress Street, Memphis, Tennessee This was an apartment house where the Presley family lived from January, 1953 to April, 1953. The monthly rent for the apartment was $50. 462 Alabama Street, Memphis, Tennessee The Presley's lived here from April of 1953 to November of 1954. This is where they were living when Elvis made his first recording at the Memphis Recording Service. 2414 Lamar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee The residence where Elvis lived during the early part of his singing career, when he was recording at Sun Records. The Presley's lived here from late 1954 to mid 1955. The house in 1994 was a nursery school, current status unknown. 1414 Getwell Street, Memphis, Tennessee This is the first house Elvis rented after he was starting to enjoy some success from his singing career. The Presley family resided here from mid 1955 to May of 1956. 1034 Audoban Drive, Memphis, Tennessee This is a single-story, three-bedroom, ranch-style house in a suburb of Memphis. Elvis purchased the residence for $40,000 in April of 1956. Elvis and his parents moved when the neighbors complained about the fans constantly surrounding the property. The home was recently sold on ebay, the deal fell throw and it was re-sold and is now vacant awaiting refurbishing to begin by the current owner's. 3764 Elvis Presley Blvd (formerly hwy.51)., Memphis, Tennessee This home and property is known throughout the world as Graceland. This is the house that Elvis considered his true home. Elvis purchased the home and the 13 acres it sat on in March of 1957 for $103,000 and he lived there until his death on Tues. August 16, 1977. It is now his final resting place after his body was moved to the Meditation Gardens in Oct. of 1977 along w/that of his mom. In 1979 Vernon Presley was interned between his son and his wife...in May of 1980, Elvis beloved Paternal grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley (Dodger) was interned to the right of Elvis. A plaque in memory of Jesse Garon is next to Glady's headstone. Graceland is owned by Elvis' daughter Lisa. |
